Growing Up Native

In August 2007, Suehyla flew back to Anchorage to aide in the beginnings of a project that would bring true stories of Native Alaskans to the stage. Most stories were inspired/adapted from the book, Growing Up Native in Alaska, written by Alexandra J. McClanahan. Cyranos Theatre and the Alaska Native Heritage Center partnered to make this dream a reality.

Suehyla introduced the storytelling methods of Celeste Miller ; which members practiced during a workshop over several days.

The result of two and a half months of non-stop work culminates in it's first public showing tonight of an original script and performance at the Cyranos Theatre.
