Where In the World Is Suehyla?

January 23, 2011

What can happen in 8 months?

First, Suehyla saw the fourth production of her debut script, The Perfect Prayer, presented by the Visalia Community Players in California, in May.

During the summer, Suehyla worked with 7 Stages' youth program, Youth Creates, helping bring to stage the world-premiere of the ensemble-collaboration, A Piece of Ground.

In the fall, Suehyla returned to Aurora Theatre's stage as Elizabeth Jelkes in Jeffrey Hatcher's new adaptation of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

Most recently, Suehyla's script, Fishbowl, received the grand prize in the Mississippi Theatre Association's Adult Playwriting Competition. Suehyla is the first native Mississippian to win the award while living out of state.

Currently, Suehyla is working on the The Fugees Project with Horizon Theatre Company. The 2 year collaboration, which will culminate in the world premiere of a brand new script, received a grant from the MAP Fund. In addition, Suehyla is working with two teen theatre groups as an extenstion of the Youth Creates program: The Georgia Ensemble youth program; and Shiloh High School's Theatre Department. Both collaborations will result in original scripts, written entirely by the students, going to stage in April and March, respectively.

She's also the newest artistic associate for Synchronicity Theatre. Happily.

Finally, don't miss Suehyla in the pilot of the brand new series Franklin & Bash.
